First Wave Surfing Coaches

BRAD   -  10 years surf instructing experience, if you can't find Brad hanging in the 1st Wave shop or on the beach doing a lesson, check Crema Espresso Coffee at Main Beach, he can't come to work before his morning cappucino. Regularly arrives just as the wind blows in and misses out on the good waves.

REAGAN  -  Born and bred on the Gold Coast, regularly spotted surfing beach breaks between Surfers and the Spit, listen to his surf report on Hot Tomato 102.9 every saturday morning approx 6.20am. Has worked on the beach and surf coached with Brad for 10 years.

TAYLOR  -  The very helpful trainee, whatever you need Taylor will help you out, lesson info, board hire, surf reports, she hangs in the shop and assists in lessons (will probably take a photo of you catching your 1st Wave), is always fending off the grommett squad.

SCOTTY  -  100% surfer, he's literally got saltwater running in his ears. He's won state and national surfing titles, still surfs everyday, also has 10 years surf instructing experience and has worked for almost every surf school on the Gold Coast.

DOM  -  Only 17 years old but already has 2 years of surf instructing experience and completed a Cert 2 Public Recreation Certificate (is now doing a surfing and event management diploma at university), has been involved in surf lifesaving clubs since he could walk. Find the best wave on the northern end of the coast and Dom will be ripping on it.

JAMES  -  Starting surf coaching over 3 years ago while studying biochemistry at university. Has since finished his degree, travelled and used his surf coaching accreditation to work around the world. Maybe one day he'll be a biochemist, but until then he's on the beach surfing and working at his beloved local Main Beach.

First Wave Grom Squad

PASCAL  -  Head Grommett, younger brother of Dom, Chief wetsuit washer and originator of the "dunk it, dunk it, wring it, hang it" rashie washing technique. You'll regularly find him surfing at Main Beach, hanging in the shop or riding his skateboard up to Macca's for the guys.

DECLAN  -  The Shop Grommett, always hanging out and helping out, has recently taken on the job of shop security. If a 4 ft high, 11 year old asks if he can help you, it's all cool he knows what he's talking about. You'll regularly spot him surfing in full steamer wetsuit or riding around the surf club on the surf check bike. (watch out it doesn't have brakes)

N.B. SURF CHECK BIKE STOLEN, WATCH OUT FOR GROMMETTS ON ELECTRIC SKATEBOARD
